Profile
Professor Judy Lam is an internationally recognised accounting scholar, educator and management academic. From March 2010 to February 2014 she was Vice President (International and Executive Education) and Chair Professor of Accounting at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, having served as Dean of its Faculty of Business from 2002 to 2010 and Dean of its Graduate School of Business from 2003 to 2011. She is a Changjiang Scholar in accounting at Xiamen University, a Council Member of Wuhan College and Chairman of its Education Strategy Committee, and a Senior Advisor to the Institute for New Economic Thinking, whose advisory board includes six Nobel laureates in economics. In 2018 she was invited to become a Senior Overseas Fellow of the Center for China and Globalization, China's largest non-governmental think tank, and was appointed Vice President of the ICAEW China Council.
In public service, Professor Lam has been a member of the Election Conference for the Hong Kong SAR deputies to the 13th National People's Congress, was twice elected to the Hong Kong SAR Election Committee for the accountancy subsector (2006 and 2012), and served on the Chaozhou Municipal Committee of the CPPCC from 2004 to 2017. She is a Director and Honorary Treasurer of the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society.
Her board experience includes appointment in August 2017 as Independent Non-executive Director, Chairman of the Audit Committee and member of the Investment Committee of Sino-Ocean Group, listed on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange; Independent Non-executive Director of CLP Holdings (2005–2014); and Independent Non-executive Director (2005–2011) and adviser (2011–2013) of China Vanke. A Canadian Chartered Accountant, she became in 1994 the first person to be awarded a doctorate in accounting in Hong Kong.
