Professor Judy Lam

Professor Judy Lam is an inter­na­tion­ally recog­nised account­ing scholar, educator and manage­ment academic. From March 2010 to February 2014 she was Vice President (International and Executive Education) and Chair Professor of Accounting at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, having served as Dean of its Faculty of Business from 2002 to 2010 and Dean of its Graduate School of Business from 2003 to 2011. She is a Changjiang Scholar in account­ing at Xiamen University, a Council Member of Wuhan College and Chairman of its Education Strategy Committee, and a Senior Advisor to the Institute for New Economic Thinking, whose advis­ory board includes six Nobel laur­eates in econom­ics. In 2018 she was invited to become a Senior Overseas Fellow of the Center for China and Globalization, China's largest non-govern­mental think tank, and was appoin­ted Vice President of the ICAEW China Council.

In public service, Professor Lam has been a member of the Election Conference for the Hong Kong SAR depu­ties to the 13th National People's Congress, was twice elected to the Hong Kong SAR Election Committee for the account­ancy subsector (2006 and 2012), and served on the Chaozhou Municipal Committee of the CPPCC from 2004 to 2017. She is a Director and Honorary Treasurer of the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society.

Her board exper­i­ence includes appoint­ment in August 2017 as Independent Non-exec­ut­ive Director, Chairman of the Audit Committee and member of the Investment Committee of Sino-Ocean Group, listed on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange; Independent Non-exec­ut­ive Director of CLP Holdings (2005–2014); and Independent Non-exec­ut­ive Director (2005–2011) and adviser (2011–2013) of China Vanke. A Canadian Chartered Accountant, she became in 1994 the first person to be awarded a doctor­ate in account­ing in Hong Kong.
